The greatest creation of the exceptional engineer and architect Sir Christopher Wren replaced the old church of Saint Paul, completely destroyed by the Great Fires of London in 1666. This gigantic cathedral has the second largest dome in the world. The height of the cathedral is 111 meters, and the nave is 55 meters wide. The purity of the line and the splendid interior elicit awe and wonder. The architect willed to be buried in St. Paul Cathedral, and his black marble headstone became its first grave. After that, many outstanding citizens found their final rest here, including Admiral Nelson and Duke of Wellington.
