Getting to Whistler

Non-stop direct flights to Vancouver International Airport from a variety of major U.S. and international cities are numerous, but the prices and availability of seats vary.

Whistler is located 120km (75 miles) north of Vancouver. From Vancouver you can get there by car, bus, ground transfers, train and air. If you are travelling by car, you will have to take Highway 99 as it is the only direct route to Whistler. Road maps of the Sea to Sky region and are available at the airport and the majority of convenience stores and supermarkets. Because the Highway 99 is the only artery connecting Whistler and the Vancouver region, it can get busy on the weekends.

Taking the bus is probably the easiest way to get to Whistler without stressing out about traffic. Yes, you may still get stuck in one, but at least you will not be the one driving the bus! Ticket prices vary from 30 to 70 CAD, and the rate depends on your departure point, whether it is Vancouver International Airport or Vancouver Bus Terminal. Some stops are also available in downtown Vancouver. It generally takes around 2 hours to get to Whistler.

Trains to Whistler depart from Vancouver several times a day, and although this kind of trip can be much more expensive than a coach ride - around 200 CAD for a round trip - it is worth the enjoyment of the view and comfort of the travelling with no traffic. The railroad to Whistler is also the only one in the Sea to Sky, so check the travel conditions in advance.
